Excellent dining experience in every way—warm, inviting ambiance, thoughtful and courteous waitstaff, delicious cuisine, and reasonably priced. Lively bar opposite the dining room for those who want a little more variety, but it’s not excessively noisy. Practically a Westbrook institution—so consistently well done for years.

Having positively and previously reviewed Cafe Routier, I will simply say that it the one restaurant we frequent that never, and I emphasize never, fails to be consistently excellent. The menu choices are always unique and changing (a staple of this restaurant) yet somehow they never miss. This visit was a Sunday night with a late reservation. Despite being last to arrive, everything was prime time perfect and enjoyable. We had trout and scallops which were both excellent choices. This is and remains our favorite shoreline restaurant, and for good reason.

Cafe Routier is our go to place at lest twice a year for a specific reason... the food is always innovative, delicious, service is very good and the staff are accommodating and lovely. HIGHLY recommend...and if you can get Dan as your waiter you will be a very happy diner!!

We had friends up from NY! They were so impressed and delighted with the entire experience! The food was amazing! Our server was outstanding!! The appetizer special was a glazed pork belly over a home made slaw. Fabulous! My husband had the oxtails. Wonderful. The Trout was terrific as always. Our friends can’t wait to come back to visit and have dinner at Cafe Routier again. We love it here!
