A good friend travelled many miles to meet me. I chose the Ivy as I have been going there ever since it opened in Birmingham and eat in the many Ivy restaurants in London and elsewhere. I trust the menu and the wine list. Today the only things that went wrong were a polite request for the table I usually get or the second best table ( in my opinion). Yet having booked several weeks ago both were taken. When were they booked? Secondly the double espresso arrived cold. It was unlike the Ivy to do that. I have known all the previous managers but not the present one. I must introduce myself at my next visit.

Very friendly, knowledgeable and professional environment supporting an excellent tasting menu. Unusual to find all plates were excellent! Easy parking and a very enjoyable and relaxed evening. Easy parking. I would recommend you give it a try.

On arrival after announcing our booking, a waiter just left me standing while they went into the kitchen ! No explanation. Just walked away ! Came back saying our table wasn’t ready , even though there were many empty tables ! No flexibility of a different table and couldn’t have been more disinterested as though I’d stopped an important task of filling up cutlery /napkin trays . I’ve been to many similar restaurants in the area who wouldn’t find it a problem to seat at alternative table. We were directed to the bar for drinks drinks . A waitress stepped in called us when the table was ready and was great ! and the restraunt setting was lovely - preferable to the bar . Food was excellent. Seafood sharer starter in particular . Great value and lovely menu . Never had a bad meal . Shame I can’t say the same about service ! Finally - what’s happened to the decor ? Cartoon pictures in a contemporary dining setting . Wellies and umbrellas cartoonisibg a wonderful natural door dressing . Confusing look. Not what I’m used to seeing here .

We visited Softley to celebrate my wifes birthday. We were welcomed to the restaurant as soon as we arrived. The restaurant was lovely and warm and were shown to our table. The staff were amazing, incredibly polite, efficient and friendly, the food was delicious, very tasty, and well presented. We were constantly asked if we required anything extra or more drinks. Overall it was a really fabulous experience and we would recommend Softleys to everyone. Absolutely first class restaurant.
