The Bear of North Moreton is a welcoming village pub in North Moreton, South Oxfordshire that dates back to the 16th century and has always been the heart of the village. We offer a humble menu of traditional home-cooked pub dishes, using the best local producers and seasonal ingredients. We serve a range of ales, beer, and cider and have a small and curated wine list. There’s a large beer garden that backs onto the village cricket pitch, and we hope to open up the Aunt Sally pitch soon.

A rural public house serving local beers, Berkshire gin and ciders, as well as a great wine selection. Bar snacks and full meals available 7 days a week. Cooking over a central grill makes for great theatrical cooking from our open-plan kitchen, overseen by Head Chef Nick Galer. Whilst a subtle Basque feel will permeate throughout, its roots are firmly founded on those of a classic English pub – so while featuring top end Basque dishes fit for a destination dinner, it also offers simple pub snacks for a light lunch… while the food may be inspired by the Basque country, the ingredients are local… and while the wines may be sourced from Iberia, the beer is very much English.The crowning glory is the sensational open kitchen, with a huge, CHARCOAL FIRED parilla grill and a BRICK OVEN as its centrepiece and all in front of the guests – very visual and very theatrical. We offer a range of ales and wines and traditional pub menu as well as an excellent Sunday roast. We have a lovely garden and welcome families and dogs providing they are on a lead. Have been to this restaurant before. The food is excellent. Great menu choices. Service is efficient. There's plenty of local parking so access is very good.

Gorgeous venue beside the river which is lovely even on a cold and wintry day. Blazing log burner is warming and cosy to look at. The dog friendly area looked great although we only passed through The access and amenities for older or slightly disabled friends was excellent. Food is always wonderfully presented and tastes good! People serving were friendly and efficient. Thank you for a very pleasant lunch.

We enjoyed a very nice meal for two on a Monday lunchtime. From the moment we arrived the staff were welcoming and friendly. The ambiance inside was lovely and the food was great. This was our first visit and we would not hesitate recommending the Chequers to friends and family. Thanks to the team for making a memorable birthday!
