Welcome to Masa & Agave, a speakeasy-style cantina hidden below stairs at the historic Hotel Ivy in Downtown Minneapolis. On Thursday's, Friday's and Saturday's from 8pm to Close we are first-come, first-served and do not accept reservations during this time.Worshipped as the Aztec gods of fertility and long life, venerated for their powers of sustenance, corn masa and agave have been central to Mexican culture and cuisine since ancient times. Using authentic techniques, we prepare corn masa-based starters and Mexico City-style tacos that are bursting with regional flavors, along with dinner classics like Pork Carnitas and Negro Monelo-Braised Beef Short Ribs. From drinks to dessert our food and drinks were outstanding. Service was exception and we really appreciated that our server allowed us to sample the wine before we ordered a glass. She also surprised us with a birthday candle with the dessert we ordered and a gift code for the picture booth! Again, she made it an exceptional experience for all four of us! We will definetly be back.

The restaurant was way to dark. You could not read the menu without a flash light nor could we even see our food. Food and service was good.
