where we were seated downstairs in a corner (though i think i'd choose upstairs next time)\n\nThe tables however were very small and tightly packed together to properly enjoy an afternoon tea. I have definitely had afternoon teas in grander surroundings.\n\nThe food was lovely and service also excellent. Particulary great was the inclusion of crême bruleé. Have never seen that on an afternoon tea before anywhere and i do love a crême bruleé!\n\nGood teapots, always essential. Skua is a small basement restaurant and bar located on St Stephen street in Stockbridge. The food menu, led by Head Chef James Aikman, is seasonal, refined, well balanced and innovative. Drawing from a large library of pickled and fermented produce year round the kitchen team offers dishes that punch well above their weight and are produced in an exceptionally small space, visible to guests as they enter the restaurant. The tables however were very small and tightly packed together to properly enjoy an afternoon tea. I have definitely had afternoon teas in grander surroundings.
The food was lovely and service also excellent. Particulary great was the inclusion of crême bruleé. Have never seen that on an afternoon tea before anywhere and i do love a crême bruleé!
Good teapots, always essential. Just marking down slightly as, for a proper posh tea experience, you really want a table large enough to fit everything on comfortably and a wider space around your table.
