RCS Sports Bistro is a relaxing spot for Western and Thai food alongside a few rounds of pool or darts. What could be better than that? The kitchen is led by the very experienced Chef Dennis, as well as Chef Aui Waraporn who has graduated from more than a few Thai cooking schools. The result of such a partnership is delicious, casual fusion food that Singaporeans can’t get enough of. You’ll find RCS Sports Bistro on Joo Chiat Road in, well, Joo Chiat, just off the main E Coast Road. It’s well worth arriving having made a reservation in advance, though, as the welcoming, chilled atmosphere here means tables don’t stay free for long.
Set in a flower shop, there can be few prettier cafes than Cafe De Nicole’s Flower in Singapore. Based in the East Coast district, the cafe serves cake and coffee as well as an all day breakfast and lunch menu. The focus is on fresh and healthy food. Fruit salads, acai bowls, quiches and soups comprise the lunch menu, while there’s grilled chicken, tortellini and more on the lunch menu. We suggest ordering the souffle pancakes, that look as good as they taste! The cafe itself is based on Telok Kuraru Road and is light, airy and filled with plants, which creates an environment you won’t want to leave.
“Let’s Meat Here” declares the door of Braserio, a French steakhouse in Singapore. While, as a rule, we would prefer that people refrained from making nouns into verbs, we’re so tickled by this pun we’ll let it slide. So let’s break this down, what does this “meating” entail? Vegans look away now, because Braseiro is a celebration of all things flame-grilled and carnivorous – steaks, beef skewers, chicken and chef (animal-based) specials. Located on Joo Chiat Road in the East Coast district, this Singaporean restaurant is the place to go for a feast of all-things meat. Their homemade fries and fresh salads are also worth a mention, as are the affordable prices. This is neighbourhood dining at its best, casual and rife with succulent flavour. What’s not to love?
Please note that tables will be held for only 15 minutes after the reservation time. Please bear this in mind when making your reservation. Located in the Joo Chiat region of East Singapore, Rabbit Carrot Gun on East Coast Road serves up traditional British eats with a modern twist. More like a bed and breakfast, this establishment actually has five suites rentable above the restaurant and their neighboring gastropub, the Trenchard Arms. Situated in a 1925 shophouse, the eatery’s interior is quaint and cozy with whimsical decorations. The owners are serious about quality and do their best to obtain the freshest local and organic ingredients for their dishes, and you can taste the difference in each bite. Just a football’s kick from Jalan Besar Stadium in the increasingly trendy Lavender quarter of Singapore, 1 Tyrwhitt Bistro & Bar makes no bones about where it can be found, on the corner of Tyrwhitt Road and Kitchener Road. Neither does it make any bones in terms of the predominantly Italian cuisine on offer, or its broad selection of drinks. It all makes for a great pre-match warm up, or simple wind down no matter the occasion.
