Itihaas restaurant in Birmingham is one stunning eaterie. This beautiful restaurant —the name means ‘history’ -- is the £2 million brainchild of businessman Raj Rana and it’s been raking in awards since it opened its doors. The décor is contemporary meets traditional with two dining rooms honouring colonial and maharaja eras – there are slate finished walls, original paintings, carved stone elephants, Jali marble window frames like those found in Mogul palaces and elegant black sari-clad hostesses. Chef Amardeep Saka offers intriguing dishes influenced by North India, Mumbai, Chinese fusion and Kenya.     We had a family meal to celebrate a birthday. The staff were polite and extremely efficient. The ambiance in the restaurant was lively and family oriented. The food, as always was absolutely delicious and plentiful. We had a truly, lovely evening. Thank you :-)

    Food was great and drinks amazing, the person that served us incredibly nice and fun, however the person that brought the drinks was a bit off when we asked for the ice to be removed from one drink. Also, I received a pink panther drink that came with a steamy dry ice and when I asked if I should do anything about that as I didn’t know if I should pour that int he drink she turned her back, I assumed she didn’t hear me. In the future is better when you serve this drink to let people know that is just a decoration thing as not everyone knows and accidents may happen. Information is key.

    We booked Zaazu in an 'emergency' when our plans fell through. It was an inspired choice and both of us thoroughly enjoyed ourselves despite preferring somewhere quieter. We will definitely be back for a birthday or our anniversary!

    We had the most wonderful evening here for a birthday. Little touches like the birthday card made this a truly amazing evening. From the young man who greeted us, to all the staff who looked after us and meeting Aktar himself it was a special time. The chefs bought the courses out and explained each one - there wasn’t one that disappointed. Would wholly recommend.
