The Woollen Mills has been one of the most iconic buildings and businesses in Dublin for over one hundred years, and to have taken over this site is a serious privilege. Much like our award-winning sister restaurant next door, The Winding Stair, we feel like we are custodians of something very special... a piece of history (James Joyce worked here, how unbelievable is that?!) and we must do it proud! Spanning over four floors and with a glorious roof terrace overlooking the River Liffey. The Woollen Mills is quintessentially Irish, local and of its locale. We want it to be an 'Eating House', a house of food, a place to grab a coffee and bun, a plate of Irish fish and chips, a place to score a casual bite befre the nearby theatres and cinemas or sit with seven courses of Irish antipasti, burrata, crab, lamb or cauliflower steak, overlooking the Ha'penny Bridge with a fine bottle of red or a craft beer. The Winding Stair Bookshop & Café became a famous Dublin landmark in the 1970s and 1980s. Named after the Yeats poem and in honour of its winding staircase, it is overlooking the river Liffey, with an iconic view of the Ha'penny bridge. As a popular meeting place for writers, musicians and artists, it was a well known hub for debate and creativity with many poems written, novels penned and movies shot within its walls. In 2006, Elaine Murphy brought this much-loved spot back to life as a restaurant, championing seasonal, Irish produce. The bookshop, located on the ground floor, was retained, as were many of the old bookshelves, photos and memories. The room retains its timeless charm with stripped wood tables and floors, and Bentwood café chairs.The view remains as quintessentially Dublin as ever.The food is good, old-fashioned home cooking, with produce sourced from artisans within the island. Drink sare local and international craft beers & wines from stellar producers.

The restaurant was brilliant, highly recommended the steak menu! Staff was very pleasant and had a laugh with me and my partner ! Always made sure guest had drinks and always offered garlic bread ! Food came very quickly and the quality was amazing! Once of the best steaks I’ve had! Will definitely be back

This place knows how to do Mexican food. Cannot fault anything about the restaurant. Our waiter was extremely nice and helpful with providing us food recommendations and how many dishes to get for a starter & main. I’d recommend the guacamole and chips, the croquettes and the pork tostado to start, they were 10/10. For mains we had the duck, chicken and fish tacos to share and they were so so yum! Again this place know how to make a taco! Overall, I will be returning to this place and I have recommended on to other friends and family.
