Masuya Restaurant is located in a building, which has been designated as a cultural asset, on O’Connell Street in Sydney. This is the same place as the office of Kanematsu Gosho, the pioneer of Australia – Japan trades, was situated in 1980. Masuya Restaurant opened in 1993, then full renovation was implemented in 2006.The approx. five meters long sushi counter, designed by architect Robert Toland in ‘kabuki red’ with an idea of the stage of kabuki, has since fascinated not only local Australian customers but also various people with different backgrounds.A showcase displays more than 20 different sushi ingredients everyday including locally produced fish, which is purchased on the day. Other carefully selected ingredients are wagyu beef, free-range pork, and seasonal vegetables. We ordered 3 dishes to start with but it took like 40mins to come out. Also the waiter served wrong dish and we waited like another 30mins. He didnt apologise or anything. The vibe, food and drinks were good! Will come back if better service is guaranteed.

Awesome, the staff are fantastic and they always greet us ands remember us which is nice. The food is awesome and we keep coming back for more. This is out go-to neighborhood Japanese. Only wish the Sake was not so expensive.

What a taste sensation. We did the tasting menu and it was a substantial amount of food. The service was excellent and we all enjoyed it very much. Highly recommend.

Delicious food as always! Looks like they’ve changed their menu up a bit as there were so many new items I’d like to try in the near future. I was really disappointed with the ramen, it seems they’ve downsized, singular piece of chashu pork and not much broth anymore either. Noodles clumped together a lot more than usual, so that was a bit disappointing
