Beautifully decorated, and thoroughly enjoyed our time there. Not a place you’d go if you’re looking for a super romantic setting, but perfect for a Friday night date or a group of friends! We started with the crudité & pita…all 4 of the dips were great! Also had a 1/2 dozen oysters and again the sauces were excellent. We ordered the rack of lamb “for the table” and a side of risotto. The lamb was absolutely perfect!! I wanted to gnaw on the bones but somehow restrained myself. The risotto was tasty but slightly too al dente. For dessert we did the rolled baklava…another hit!!! Chris, our server, was fantastic. He took time to stop and actually carry on a conversation which is so rare these days. The only con of the night was the menu itself. Between the lighter color of the print, plus the teeny scale of the font, I had to take pictures on my phone then blow them up to be able to read the menu. I noticed others struggling to read it as well. Why make it difficult to order? There were plenty of other things on the menu we want to try. We’ll be back and this time I’ll bring my 2.0 readers. 😂

Chris and Chris make a dynamic bartenders duo. Real showmen and conversationalists. The bar has no TV (thank the heavens) which encourages yakking with the locals and regulars and outta-towners alike. (Also, the gorgeous, huge mural of local birds behind the bar was absolutely beautiful.) During our one dinner, which we methodically ordered one course at a time, we enjoyed conversations with two different sets of (faster-eating) diners on both our left and right sides. There was a lot of laughter and giggles and oohs and ahhs over the food. Our neighbors at the bar were proud to show off their orders and even offer nibbles. The cocktails were perfect and each course rose to a new height of deliciousness. Capped off with an amazing apple tart with a candle and glasses of freebie bubbly to celebrate our anniversary. Room for improvement: Not all the food came out hot from the kitchen. One pasta dish was practically lukewarm. Pro-tip ask your server to make sure your food comes out in a pre-heated bowl or plate. Our pasta was served hot in a cold pasta bowl, which totally dropped the temperature of the dish by the time it made it to our seats at the bar. (Chris, a battle-scared kitchen veteran, said it was because the runners had "soft hands" and couldn't take the heat. I think he was sorta, maybe joking? But still: each course was more delicious the the previous one, and more importantly, our date night was fun! We will make Allelo's gorgeous, scrumptious and neighborly bar a regular part of our restaurant rotation. Allelo definitely takes a tiny sting out of the oncoming horrors of tyranny.

Our first visit won’t be our last. Food was delicious, server very friendly. It was super busy “pre-concert” and they handled it very well. Highly recommend reservations if you’re attending an event at The Baycare Sound or The Capitol Theater.
