The Art Gallery Restaurant, Crafted by Matt Moran, provides a unique dining experience in one of Sydney’s most stunning dining rooms. A sherwal is a traditional, multi-layered baggy men’s trousers worn in various areas of the Mediterranean. Centuries old, it is a rare sight nowadays, except in remote villages and at traditional cultural ceremonies and, well, at our restaurant. Why name our restaurant after an archaic pants? Because, somehow, this pair of comfortable pants has found its way into our modern world, with little tweaks here and there taking the form of harem pants or baggy jeans, fusing the old with the new. And this is what we want to do. We want to take old culinary masterpieces from the Mediterranean and fuse them together, with new flavours here and there, adding new colours and new tastes to the table.

We had the pre-theatre dinner banquet and everything was delicious. What our group thought was excellent was that there was the flexibility for the 6 of us to choose different banquets as long as 2 people chose the same thing. Their lamb and arnabeet were our particular favourites.

Absolutely excellent. Food was delicious, the steak was some of the best I’ve ever had. Everything was very fresh and incredibly tasty. We did the $99 premium set menu which is on the more expensive side for Sydney but well worth it. If anything there was actually too much food but that’s hardly something to complain about! Staff were excellent, have to say we really really enjoyed our meal and would absolutely recommend to anybody considering trying Ouzo out!

Truly wonderful venue catering to all parties, including families, couples, friends, etc. Great value for money food and wine, wide variety of dishes. Authentic Greek dishes. Fantastic intuitive and friendly service, look forward to our next visit to continue exploring the menu further! Igor
