Our Elk Grove restaurant, located at 1050 E Higgins Rd, was established in 1971 and was the second Lou Malnati’s pizzeria to ever open! The exterior log cabin design pays homage to the village named after the elk that used to roam the forest preserve just down the road in Busse Woods. Lou Malnati’s Elk Grove offers dine-in, carryout, delivery, catering and a semi-private event space to accommodate up to 60 people.     It was an extremely busy night! Granted, it was half price pizza night, but it was also the week of Thanksgiving. I’m sure there was a shortage of hep. Which was understandable, however, everyone in our party of 6 felt the pizza had changed from previous visits. The sauce was definitely not the same and it just didn’t have the great taste of the Morettis pizza that we have always had. Hopefully this was a one time experience for us because this is a favorite of all of ours.

    We went for the pop up Santa Baby. It was AMAZING. COOLEST Christmas ambiance ever. I have never seen anything like it. We went with our teens before 8 pm when families are allowed. Although it was a 30 minute uber from where we were staying in downtown Chicago, it was totally worth it. Food was ok. Not amazing but everything else made up for it.

    Three of us dining, ordered two pizzas and salad, and shared. It was plenty. The pizzas (we had one white and one yellow) were very good. The fungo in white was great. The salad had everything we like and was large enough for 3-4 people. Both pizzas were prepared as expected, based on the techniques advertised, and were really good - thin dough except for the outer crust, cooked completely without being dry or crunchy. Edges properly "burned and blistered". Service was excellent, but we were literally the first customers of the day. It was our first visit, and our server was informative, polite and patient.
