Jose’s vibrant story comes to life at every table through its chef-driven plates, craft cocktails, the ceramics crafted by its renowned namesake, José Noe Suro of Ceramica Suro and the hand-drawn mural adorning the walls with scenes of Guadalajara and Tequila, which was a collaboration between Suro and Dallas-based designer and artist Megan Reinhardt. More than a restaurant, José is a community with authentically innovative Mexican food at its heart. Desperados’ landmark status has been achieved through the determination and vision of Jorge Levy who, along with two partners, opened the doors to the now historic Greenville Avenue location in 1976.This family is very passionate about what they do and that passion is evident throughout many aspects of their business. However it is the recipes that have elevated Desperados to its status as a Delicious Dallas Original. The menu is large, sampling much of the culinary diversity of Mexico. “We were one of the first to ever serve Ceviche,” Jorge boasts.
