We have been dining at One Coastal for many years, predating the arrival of James Beard Award Finalist Chef Matt Kern. We were so delighted that after One Coastal changed hands we were able to enjoy the same unrivaled, creative, fresh Delaware cuisine. Tonight our family ordered the duck and the rockfish. Both were expertly executed. The flavor profiles of both dishes were unusual, cohesive, and delightful. My husband and I both enjoyed our cocktails, a Duchess and a Ryanhatten. Washington Inn has upped its game in the food category! Fantastic meal including some old favorites -oysters Rockefeller and their famous crab cakes. Beef tartare was terrific with truffle sauce. Atmosphere cozy and friendly. Bartenders are excellent and the cocktails were delicious. They have a huge wine list and a knowledgeable sommelier. Highly recommend!

Small intimate dinning room in the Washington pedestrian mall. Professional, friendly & attentive staff. Attractively decorated for the holiday while still maintaining elegance. It is BYOB. The New England Clam Chowder was flavorful with generous amount of clams. Husband had grilled polenta with broccoli rabe & fresh shaved Pecorino Romano cheese “like Mom used to make.” I couldn’t finish my seafood risotto. So generous was the portion of local shrimp, scallops & clams though I tried ! Husband had Shrimp & Salmon with mash potatoes in chili sauce. Delicious. Try the Pumpkin cheesecake & you’ll think it’s Thanksgiving again. Highly reccomended

I dined here for the Feast of the Seven Fishes: 6 seafood dishes plus dessert. Not all the dishes were successful, but I applaud the chef’s originality. IMO, the exceptional dishes were: 1. The first one, oysters with a champagne toast. What was exceptional was the hint of ginger. 2. My second favorite, the second one with thinly sliced raw baby octopus and white truffles with a blood orange vinaigrette. 3. My favorite, the sixth course, olive oil poached catfish with caviar. The catfish was so so so good! One It was pillowy soft and delicious. Its sweetness and richness was nicely offset by the arugula salad. 4. The seafood soup. Not overly rich and the mussels, cockles and shrimp were perfectly cooked. The less successful dishes for me were: 1. The fried baccalia and artichokes. I found the fish overcooked and way too salty. 2. The squid ink spaghettini. The pasta was bland and while the uni butter and chili emulsion were excellent, there wasn’t enough of them. Dessert was average. Not too sweet. My biggest complaint was the mousse which was too hard and thick. Service was excellent and I very much appreciated how each dish was described to us.

I’ve been here many times. Great service but was somewhat disappointed on the Fish Stew. It’s off season so maybe my expectations were too high.
