Masuya Restaurant is located in a building, which has been designated as a cultural asset, on O’Connell Street in Sydney. This is the same place as the office of Kanematsu Gosho, the pioneer of Australia – Japan trades, was situated in 1980. Masuya Restaurant opened in 1993, then full renovation was implemented in 2006.The approx. five meters long sushi counter, designed by architect Robert Toland in ‘kabuki red’ with an idea of the stage of kabuki, has since fascinated not only local Australian customers but also various people with different backgrounds.A showcase displays more than 20 different sushi ingredients everyday including locally produced fish, which is purchased on the day. Other carefully selected ingredients are wagyu beef, free-range pork, and seasonal vegetables.     AMAZING! Food was as always so delicious and the service was wonderful. Verfy friendly staff. I took my house guest, visiting from Japan, here for his Birthday and he LOVED it. I informed the restaurant ahead of time that we would be celebrating a Birthday and they went out of their way for him, the made a birthday tray with scoops of icecream, a candle and written Happy Birthday and his name. Then thay sang Happy Birthday. Absolutely the best experience for all of us.

    We went on a Friday night, a group of 6. We chose our own courses, everything was amazing. The Chiefs selection sashimi was done of the best any of us had eaten. The cocktails and wines were fabulous. Even in a very busy restaurant the staff were incredibly attentive and the meals arrived at a nice pace. We will be back and highly recommend you visit.

    Great meal and atmosphere. Especially impressed with how well they do gluten free food and how knowledgeable the staff were. The only issue was the lack of food on the sushi train but I guess since it was Saturday night it maybe isn’t The focus of their service.
