Soothr, properly pronounced “Sood” is the Thai word meaning “Recipe”. This East Village establishment is the vision of close friends who grew up in different regions of Thailand, hoping to share their experiences and recipes with the rest of the world. Raised in distinctive regional cities, each individual brings their own unique relationship with Thai cuisine, with a specific focus on the generational family recipes that have shaped their childhood and time growing up in Thailand. Zaab Zaab is proud natives of Queens, opened their restaurant in the heart of Elmhurst’s Little Thailand in April of 2022 just before Songrkan, or Thai New Year. The destination for authentic Isaan cuisine from Northeastern Thailand has received numerous accolades, including a 3-star review from Pete Wells of The New York Times, and being listed two years in a row on the NYT’s 100 Best Restaurants in NYC as well as being nominated as a semifinalist in the outstanding Restaurateur category for the 2024 James Beard Foundation Awards. Zaab Zaab is also recognized as a Michelin Bib Gourmand restaurant.

“My original thinking when we opened the restaurant was to serve the local Thai community in Elmhurst,” says Chunton. “Clearly I underestimated New York City’s appetite for Northeastern Thai food. We now have five locations across Queens, Brooklyn, and Manhattan and are so proud to represent Thai food and culture in New York City.”

11 Tigers is New York City’s first-ever speakeasy with a Thai heart and a Japanese soul. The marriage of these two culinary cultures is reflected in our menu, which includes small plates like Crying Tiger Gyoza and Thai Larb Tuna as well as larger dishes like 11 Tigers Tom Yum Ramen—tonkatsu ramen with jumbo prawn—and Black Panther Curry, squid ink fettuccine in makrut lime scented Thai Panang curry topped with seared ribeye steak.

    This was our 18th wedding anniversary & chose to celebrate it somewhere new. The ambiance was amazing. Our server was very attentive & the service was amazing. Everything came out right on time which was greatly appreciated. We had chicken & vegetable spring rolls which were amazing. My husband ordered sweet & sour chicken which he loved & I ordered beef & broccoli which was good but I felt the beef was a lil chewy. My drink Mai Tai wasn’t that good but the mistaken drink Brooklyn was amazing. We will be back again in the future to try some other food.
