ジェームズ・ビアード賞を受賞した評判のRoy YamaguchiがオープンしたEating House 1849（イーティング・ハウス・1894）は、 The Shops at Kukui"ula内にあるレストランです。ポルトガルのビジネスマンPeter Fernandezがハワイで最初につくったレストランEating Houseは、19世紀のカジュアルな人気の食堂で、島で発展する多様なコミュニティから様々な味を取り入れていました。その名にちなんで名付けたレストランです。

    オープンキッチンで開放的な雰囲気。 日本人の口に合う、ハワイアンキュージーン ラーメンは、日本でいう坦々麺です 前作、メイン、デザート全て美味しかった さすが、Roy Yamaguchi カウアイ島のローカルの方にも人気だそうです

    We love Eating House. We had our usual pot stickers appetizer, butter fish entree and chocolate soufflé for desert. They were all delicious as usual. Make sure to make reservations.

    Eating House 1849 continues the local plantation-style eatery feel, with open air seating, view of the back of the house, and a lively atmosphere. The staff is very friendly and attentive, especially the server I had for the evening, Alfred. Change of pace from most restaurants, as they start you out with edamame for the table. Ordered the EH 1849 Spicy Ramen, which gives you a chance to sharpen your chopstick skills, should you desire. The pork belly and tiger shrimp were cooked well and had great flavor. The noodles didn't stand out for any real reason, but the broth was outstanding, with exceptional depth of flavor and superior seasoning. The chili oil adds a nice zip, but is by no means too spicy. If you want dessert, which I would highly recommend, work with your server to ensure that it gets ordered early. Both desserts that were available last night took ~17-20 minutes to prepare, so they will time it appropriately if you communicate with them. I chose the Roy Yamaguchi's Melting Hot Chocolate Souffle, and was not disappointed. It was paired with the locally sourced Lappert's vanilla bean ice cream, and a raspberry coulis. If you are a souffle purist, do not be surprised that this is a deviation from traditional souffles, being more of a molten lava cake. It is delicious, regardless, and a great way to end the meal.

    Great dining experience! Excellent food! Definitely a top choice from our trip. The short ribs and the blackened ahi were amazing! Our waiter Corey was very helpful and attentive. And don’t forget the Pineapple upside down cake, perfect way to end your meal!!

    I had an excellent experience at The Eating House, and I want to give a special shoutout to Donovan. He was incredibly attentive, keeping our table spotless and making sure we had everything we needed without even having to ask. His friendly attitude and efficiency really stood out, making our dining experience even more enjoyable. It’s clear he takes pride in his work, and it made a difference. Great job, will be coming back soon!

    The seafood paella was delicious! Service was attentive and our waitress was very knowledgeable about making my meal safe for my gluten-dairy-soy allergies. Restaurant decor is just so-so. Not much of a view but is located in a lovely shopping plaza.

    Great experience - Wait staff was attentive and prompt. I always plan a dinner here when visiting Kauai. Awesome sunset. Made a special request - special occasion - early on Open Table and they honored it.

    Outstanding food. The ribs are a must have, as well as the Caesar salad (croutons) and pineapple upside down!
