As a local who’s eaten and traveled various places, I can say Chequers was a joy to experience. Perfect Sunday roast with a great wine list that doesn’t cost the earth.

It was our second visit to the restaurant. The choice of food was extensive and the all-round quality was excellent. We were celebrating my wife's birthday and her dessert came with a sparkling candle and a delightful singing of 'Happy Birthday', much to the surprise of my wife! A wonderful evening overall due to the food, company and excellent service.

Fantastic food, great location, profession customer service & good value for money.

We were dining to celebrate my son’s 21st so we were a table of four; the general arrangement perhaps suits couples better than it does larger groups but the staff were terrific, friendly and helpful. The establishment is quirky, an absolute delight although perhaps not best suited to the infirm as the toilets were a slight trek (but again beautifully quirky). The menu changes frequently and the staff were keen to explain any queries that we had. The general arrangement was that food was brought with the intention of sharing, bigger servings than tapas style but the principle was similar. It’s been a week since we were there and I’m still not sure what course was my favourite:- the food is absolutely top quality and clearly served with love, care and attention. Loved it utterly and will definitely be back.

We actually had afternoon tea which was superb. Service exemplary. The sandwiches savouries and cakes were delicious. Then freshly baked scones. Tea refills on tap . Highly recommended
