But all of that changes with Safina: a new casual Italian concept that comes to the historic building at 785 N. Jefferson St.Focusing on comforting dishes with roots in Sicily and the southern regions of Italy, Safina's goal is to keep the menu familiar and accessible. Drawing upon the rich history of Milwaukee’s craftsmanship we present, Craft. The history of Milwaukee dates to the early 17th and 18th centuries when traders first began to travel through and eventually settle in what is now Milwaukee. Deep European roots brought craftsmen and skilled hands to the area and to this day an ethic of hard work and determination inhabits the spirit of the city. Early on the area was full of coopers, butchers, shoemakers, and farmers. Milwaukee’s beer history started in the 1840’s, driven by the presence of the frontier settlement near the Great Lakes. Immigrants, including Welsh and German settlers, yearned for the native beers of their homelands, so they embarked on making delicious craft beer with techniques from their native countries. Craft features a cuisine including locally sourced foods, hand crafted cocktails, and a vast selection of local beer.

    Two in our party had the tomahawk pork chop and it was delicious. My daughter ordered the chipotle chicken which she said was good and my grandson was happy with the children’s menu ordering chicken tenders. The main issue was the valet parking! For less than 2 hours it was $25 with a tip and we had to wait a long time to get our car!

    Bavette has the best roast beef sandwich I’ve ever eaten, and there is no close second. It’s pricey but worth it. Absolutely delicious. Attentive service, casual but professional ambiance.

    This was our second visit . The first was a disaster, but it was very soon after they opened. Tonight, it was outstanding. We had the burrata salad, very unusual but really excellent. The addition of the oranges with the bitter arugula was very tasty. The entrees were excellent, we had the veal and halibut. And the chocolate pana cotta was perfect ending.

    Dined there early week of 2/10. Got one of my favorite dishes, scallops & mushroom risotto. Added a petite filet along with a very tasty red house wine. Dining partner had the braised short rib. All items well prepared & presented. Melt in your mouth entries. Unfortunately no room for dessert this time
