Nestled in the heart of Ashtown Village, Dublin 15, overlooking the Royal Canal, The Lock Keeper can be found at Lock #10. Steeped in heritage, this double lock was constructed c.1792. With quality stonework and attractive sloping edges Lock 10 is one of 46 along the Royal Canal and continues to be a testament to the skill of the craftsmen involved. Our bar is adjacent to the Lock Keepers House, a post that became obsolete in 1961 when the canal was closed to traffic the previous year. Twelve months later, we opened another little cave in Temple Bar and our third in a cottage in Dundrum Town’s Centre’s Pembrook District. After three successful restaurants and seven years of hard work and saving our pocket money, we decided we were grown up enough to hit London in search of fame and fortune down the West End of Covent Garden, where we hope to get a small bit part alongside Jude Law! In 2019, we were delighted to announce that we opened our fifth location in Camden Street, Dublin 2. Which is an incredibly diverse area that gives us the opportunity to present our tapas, ports and wines with a focus on Cava that does not receive the attention it deserves.

During the week, we will be giving the people what the want; coffee, toasties and a full breakfast menu.There are seats in the middle around the open kitchen so you can enjoy the hustle and bustle of everything going on. Down the back there is a bright mezzanine area with a skylight and then we have some outdoor table in our lovely sun trap out the back.This brick and mortar style cafe is the love child of one of the owners, Brian. Taking inspiration from his travels around the world and his family kitchen. The breakfast tacos from his trips around Central/South America, The Levain flatbread from his sourdough starter and soufflé pancakes from eating his way around Japan.
