There are a wide variety of restaurants in Ludlow, but Clive Arms stands out if you want traditional British food that makes the most of Ludlow’s local ingredients.Our food is inspired by the seasonal produce of Shropshire and our surrounding counties. Many of our ingredients are handmade at Ludlow Farmshop. Our meat is reared in the fields surrounding us on the Earl of Plymouth’s Oakly Park Estate and is prepared by the award winning butchers at Ludlow FarmshopPlease note, we do add a 12.5% discretionary service charge onto the bill for groups of six or more.

The Bateman Arms was built c.1750 by Sir James Bateman (Lord Mayor Of London) as a building where his Estate workers would collect on pay day. Over the years it became a staging post for weary Drovers to refresh themselves as they walked livestock from West Wales to markets in Birmingham and London.Today, Mike Pope and his team provide a warm welcome to both locals and the many business and leisure visitors who travel to the Marches throughout the year.     What a lovely and surprising find. We were shown to out table straight away. Food was beautiful and excellent value for money. Although there several diners it wasn't noisy. Service was prompt without being intrusive.

    Delightful! The four of us were quietly celebrating a birthday. The attention given to us by the staff was perfect. Attentive and not intrusive. The food was just fabulous. I had the crab fish cakes to start and the beef roast dinner with a cheeky cauliflower cheese. Then finishing with a caramel Eaton mess and coffee. I can honestly say it was the best meal out we have had for ages. Thank you

    Just great. Excellent service, food was just a celebration for the taste buds. We sat by the fire for a drink. Ate well and then relaxed back at the fire and the chap managing silently refilled the fire without any need for us to say a thing. Just incredible presentation and relaxing. Definitely be going again. Thank you

    This was our first visit to the Lion and we had booked for Sunday lunch. Whilst the quality of the food was very good one slice of meat didn’t quite just justify £22 in our opinion. Overall the service was good, it was a busy restaurant and the staff you could see were working hard. The rest of the meal was good and we intend to visit again.
