In 1688, Joseph Haviland built a tidewater gristmill that provided the locally-grown grains to a nearby bakery that supplied farmers and tradesmen with bread. It was the first public oven in New York State. Haviland’s Old Grist Mill and the public bakery were community gathering places for two centuries. Inspired by Joseph Haviland’s noble efforts, the Haviland Kitchen & Bar has been established for our neighbors. Bartenders , hosts were great! Food was out of this world, but I have to say was pricy. Drinks were great! They checked on us quite frequently. The bartender’s recommendations were on point. Chairs were so comfortable and atmosphere was amazing. The noise level was high but that doesn’t bother me. I would definitely go back!
