Uncle Bacala’s specializes in Italian-style seafood and other inventive dishes in its warm and cozy New Hyde Park eatery. For a tantalizing start to your meal, enjoy the mozzarella in carrozza cheese-stuffed fried country bread and the mashed potato and mozzarella croquettes, both served with marinara sauce. Some of Uncle Bacala’s house entrées include the breaded salmone in agrodolce served over eggplant in a honey garlic sauce, the beef filetto di manzo with mushrooms, roasted potatoes and spinach in gorgonzola-cognac sauce and the apricot-glazed grilled pork chop. Fantastic dinner. Food is always top notch. The dry age strip was perfect. The scallops were beautifully presented. The service however is why we will always come here. From the hostess, Kayla, who made sure to stop by our table and welcome us back even though she was busy with other people to the server and busser Nick and Douglas who are so attentive. Can’t wait to come back.
