Uncle Bacala’s specializes in Italian-style seafood and other inventive dishes in its warm and cozy New Hyde Park eatery. For a tantalizing start to your meal, enjoy the mozzarella in carrozza cheese-stuffed fried country bread and the mashed potato and mozzarella croquettes, both served with marinara sauce. Some of Uncle Bacala’s house entrées include the breaded salmone in agrodolce served over eggplant in a honey garlic sauce, the beef filetto di manzo with mushrooms, roasted potatoes and spinach in gorgonzola-cognac sauce and the apricot-glazed grilled pork chop. My boyfriend and I went for our anniversary dinner and we were not disappointed. This place exceeded our expectations and then some! The service was incredible, our waiter Andy was so attentive, and thoughtful. The staff was quick, efficient and just as attentive. They knew what we needed or wanted before we could even ask. The food was insanely delicious! Definitely our new date night spot!

Peter is all over everything including food, staff and bar. So friendly to all of the customers. Bacala's has been there for so many years when prior to this restaurants came and go at this location. Peter Hewitson is the difference. He is passionate about the restaurant and is always there with a smile and running all over keeping things running smoothly.
