A sherwal is a traditional, multi-layered baggy men’s trousers worn in various areas of the Mediterranean. Centuries old, it is a rare sight nowadays, except in remote villages and at traditional cultural ceremonies and, well, at our restaurant. Why name our restaurant after an archaic pants? Because, somehow, this pair of comfortable pants has found its way into our modern world, with little tweaks here and there taking the form of harem pants or baggy jeans, fusing the old with the new. And this is what we want to do. We want to take old culinary masterpieces from the Mediterranean and fuse them together, with new flavours here and there, adding new colours and new tastes to the table.

The name “Ichoume” comes from the address of this street. Ichoume is located on ‘1’ Harbour Street, Darling Quarter. That’s why we named the restaurant “Ichoume” (Choume is used for addresses in Japan. It's a way of breaking a municipality into districts. 丁目(Choume) is ‘city district’, so ‘1 choume’(Ichoume) is ‘1st [city] district’).The design concept of the restaurant is a hangout for adults.The menu is supervised by AKIKO ISHIKAWA, who has accumulated her career in many restaurants. Amazing new dinner spot. Pasta was cooked to perfection & the risotto was heavenly….I didn’t want it to end. Atmosphere and service was 2nd to none. Will definitely be returning.

One of the best ones my girlfriend and I have been to! I love how the waiters are very attentive to the situation of our food so that we don't have to wait as much for our main course, as well as everything else. The food was very delicious as well. What an experience!

Lovely quiet place to have a nice meal with a conversation when you don’t have to strain to hear each-other. The food was excellent (we had zucchini flowers, lamb and duck and mixed greens for side), just the right portions too, nicely presented. The glass of rose was also delicious. All very reasonably priced, in fact considerably cheaper than elsewhere we have been for a pre-shaw dinner. The service was unpretentious yet attentive and prompt. Thank you!
