It has been re-mixed and re-imagined by the people behind the multi-award winning Altrincham Market; Mackie Mayor, Manchester and Picturedrome, Macclesfield.The Nag's Head is a listed building that dates back to its origin as a Smithy in the 1740's, on the trade route connecting the ports of Liverpool and North Wales to the Potteries.At The Nag's Head sister venues we have earned a reputation for high quality food, delivered in beautiful buildings, served informally. A new, growing-led “British Tapas” restaurant from the teams behind Chef's Table and Growing @Field 28. The menu features an inventive and daily-changing selection of vegetarian, vegan, meat, fish and game plates, each dish is crafted from Field 28's daily harvest of pesticide and biocide-free heritage produce and specialist leaf, served alongside a selection of hand-crafted cordials, cocktails and wines. AA 2 Rosette restaurant. The Forge Restaurant in Chester is one of Chester’s best restaurants with delicious food and unrivalled service. With a passion for wild, sustainable British ingredients, and a love of simple cooking over fire and charcoal. The Forge has its kitchen front and centre in the middle of this lovely, and elegant space. Incredible dry-aged beef and wild venison will be found in the maturation cabinets, awaiting their turn on the amazing forge grill, to be lovingly grilled and roasted over beech logs. Head chef Dan Regan, a passionate chef, heads up the young, vibrant team in the kitchen. Combining amazing, wild, sustainable ingredients from land and sea into sumptuous creations that form really memorable eating experiences. We focus on British ingredients, as local to Chester. Our venison, always a hugely popular part of our menus, is harvested from herds on estates that focus on improving biodiversity and deer health – a process we call Farming the Wild.

Centrally located in Chester with multi story parking locally. Very smartly presented resaurant. Attentive staff in a relaxed atmosphere. All the courses were very well presented. The Lunch menu was resonably priced . Not the cheapest restaurant to dine at but well worth a visit if you like fine dining.

This was my first time dining at Shrub and it certainly won’t be my last. Excellent location, service amazing and so very helpful- lovely staff, food excellent- love the choices available - all superbly prepared. Thank you Shrub - I will spread the word of this amazing plant food restaurant and I look forward to my next visit very soon.

When visiting the White Horse it is always welcoming and you immediately feel at home. A roaring fire and lovely staff. We both had a large plate and a pudding and the food was excellent. We had a seafood pie and a beef and ale pie which was a special. The tastes were out of this world. For puddings we had a croissant and butter pudding with ice cream and a crème brûlée. Again they were so different to normal fayre and a real pleasure. The combination of lovely ambience and special food was a lovely experience.
