The Hop Vine formerly the ‘Royal Hotel’ was built in 1874 and was the main stopping off point for goods being transported to and from the old Turnpike road the A59. The Royal as it was known has served the community and travellers alike. To the rear of the building in our historic Cobbled Garden you will find our own brewery housed in the stables which were used for the horses and stage coaches as they passed through the village. We had an excellent lunch today. My only criticism is the staff at times were too attentive clearing glasses and cups from individuals - it was an obvious selling technique which became annoying as it occurred several times by various staff. Most people can request additional drinks if needed. Based upon your tipping criteria this means higher bills and therefore higher tips if more drinks are purchased.

Good food at atmosphere, but not quite up to previous standards (recently changed management). Not much festive cheer, last year we got Christmas crackers!

Great food, good value with friendly service . We would have stayed longer but closed early on Christmas Eve to get ready for them opening again next day

Well greeted by the staff, good choice of food and drinks. Great service and food which was excellent was served hot and well presented.
