Oma's Hideaway is a vibrant, maximalist restaurant inspired by the life and spirit of Chef Thomas Pisha Duffly's grandmother, Kiong Tien “Tina” Vandenberg. Her ability to adapt, to make the most out of limited resources, and to stay creative while projecting warmth and brightness is the guiding force behind Oma’s Hideaway.Born during the pandemic as a pop-up in the Gado Gado parking lot, Oma’s became a permanent beacon of iridescent light in Portland’s Richmond neighborhood in 2021. The menu draws from Tina’s life story, taking influence from the craveable, soul-satisfying hawker food of Singapore and Malaysia and “turning up the volume” with exaggerated yet balanced flavors in Chef Tom’s signature style. Located downstairs in The Valley Public House. We offer an upscale menu that changes frequently with seasonal and daily specials. We are open for Happy Hour until 5pm and then Dinner from 5pm to closing, Wednesday through Sunday. Minors are allowed. We are well equipped to host large parties- Please call the restaurant to book groups larger than 8 people. We even boast a private event space capable of seating up to 70 guests. 20% gratuity applied to parties of 8 or more.

The staff is very friendly and service was excellent. The manager greeted us and checked with us, as we were leaving,as well. There was a mix up regarding Sunday Brunch menus. The web site didn’t say that the Happy Valley location did not offer brunch and a brunch menu is even on the site. Evidently, the other locations have brunch, but HV does not. However,the manager told us that they would begin to offer brunch, sometime in January.

We thoroughly enjoyed our experience! We ordered cocktails and then tried out the tasting menu, which did not disappoint. Our server recommended a lovely young red wine. Everything was great!

It was nice, we got seated right away, and the waitress was quick with getting us everything we wanted and needed. She was really helpful. The only thing is I didn't know you could only do happy hour if you sat in the bar. Which was a bummer. But overall it was an amazing experience

We went to Black Rabbit for thanksgiving dinner and had a wonderful time. The turkey, potatoes and gravy were delicious. The service was A+. We’re already planning to go back.
