General Public is inspired by trying to imagine what an upscale English pub would be if it had the heart of an American brasserie (and was open 11 to 11). It’s also going to signal a little bit of steakhouse, but not too much. And finally, it will look behind itself at the Black Hoof, which you will see reflected in James Santon’s menu here and there. In terms of vibe, the main floor is ‘everything’s gone green’, with lush comfortable banquette seating, warm wood, and barstools designed for long conversations over many cocktails. Upstairs you’ll find a completely different space that transports you to a peachy 80s dream. My friend and I liked it. We were there on Christmas Eve for lunch. Not too crowded, when leaving we were the only people in our section. Food was good, not outstanding, but good. Spectacular view, great ambiance. Service was very slow, maybe because of Christmas, but polite and pleasant. Would definitely come back.

Very attentive and delicate service. Chef's and waiters' attentions were much appreciated. Truly outstanding cuisine. However, while the wine list is impressive and quite wide-ranging, it is a challenge to find some medium-priced options as most wines are above $200. Our wine was excellent though even though its price was $150. A place to try for sure.
