Priding ourselves on our motto ‘Famous for fish’ Smiths Restaurants is a name that has become synonymous with fine dining and quality, attentive service. Our restaurants are located in Ongar Essex (just off the A414) and Wapping in central London (near Tower Bridge). Both restaurants boast an extensive menu of fresh fish that we offer to cook in a variety of ways to suit every palette.     Amazingly well cooked and flavoursome food. Steaks were cooked on point, which is a real bug bear for me. So many restaurants fail on this especially with a rump steak. The chicken and tacos were amazing. Value was phenomenal. Karv platter for £75 was enough to feed a family of 5. Service was warm, polite and very friendly. Food arrived very quickly and atmosphere was warm and cosy. Overall, we all loved this place!

    Perfection as always. No surprise that the place is always fully booked days if not weeks ahead. Warm professional staff, great team in the kitchen! The dishes always look glamorous and tempting, and live up to expectations. My teeniest criticism is that the portions are so large it's one of the few restaurants I don't have a starter. Had the grilled skate with burnt butter and capers, delicious. And my guest had the scallops, prawns and monkfish I think it was in a white sauce with Parmesan crust, the gratin. Fabulous. The good news was we managed dessert, something I rarely eat. Coconut and jam sponge was light as a feather. And cane with vanilla ice cream. Overall,

    BBQ tray was absolutely delicious and some of the best bbq I have had outside of the USA. The beef rib was really tasty but a little tough. Staff were super friendly and thought the value was really good for how much we got!
