While retaining the original industrial charm of the building we have created a new balcony that is a real sun trap for those summer days and nights.Our drinks menu showcases regional brews such as Brew York and Ilkley Pale, trendy craft beers, cask ales such as Black Sheep and Roosters and is the first northern bar to feature big tanks of Meantime's Brewery Fresh!We also offer a wide range of gins that include regional favourites, Yorkshire Dales Distillery alongside classic blends like Slingsby. Customers will also have the opportunity to experience Gin masterclasses, learning all there is to know about the spirit, how to select the right garnishes and how to recreate their favourite tipples.If food is more your thing, you won't be disappointed. Our sourdough pizzas come in a variety of flavours, from Pepperoni and BBQ Chicken Feast, to the more unique, including Sweet Chilli Duck and Smoky Sloppy Joe.

    Our meal at The Refectory in York was exceptional. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the staff were professional and attentive throughout. We started with a warm sourdough loaf with bee honey, seafood cocktail and a haddock souffle' - all beautifully presented and delicious. For mains, the pan fried sea bass was perfectly cooked, and the venison was tender and full of flavor. An unforgettable dining experience - we highly recommend The Refectory and look forward to returning!

    One of the best bars we went to during our trip to York. We had pizzas and they were delicious. They have 2-4-1 cocktails that are yummy and lots of beer selections. The atmosphere was great and the staff were amazing, it was very busy when we went but that didn’t seem to phase the staff. We will be visiting again!

    Nice quiet pub which allowed you to have a conversation. friendly, helpful staff. Went on a Monday, after they'd had a busy weekend so some food choices were unavailable, as they get deliveries on a Tuesday, but we managed to find something we liked. service was very fast. Perfect for a quick lunch between meetings on a work day. Also their range of vegan choices will make it our go-to place

    Very busy bar, we are all in our 50s and still felt comfortable in this very busy bar, the food and drink were good value for money, the food was very nice, good all round experience.
