Hochi Mama was the God Mother of all aspiring street artists and rappers in the early nineties. An immigrant in the big city, she hosted underground art shows along with rap battles for the rejects; a place where you could just be at home, but with family. The whole crew was always welcome, the more the merrier, and she was well renowned for creating innovative dishes using the original famous dishes from her home country, and plenty of booze, in her spacious and homey warehouse.This cheeky, vibrant and buzzing Vietnamese Fusion venue is one for your to-do list. The third venue for the high-profile restaurateur couple Rinaldo Di Stasio and Mallory Wall, sits behind the King and Godfree complex on the corner of Lygon and Faraday Streets and has glamorous echoes of their Di Stasio Citta pleasure palace in the city.Designed by architect Di Ritter of Hassell, also responsible for Citta, the pizzeria has three separate spaces inside, adorned with Reko Rennie artwork and Shaun Gladwell sculptures, and a courtyard bar centred around a fountain imported from the Roman countryside.Chef Federico Congiu, who has worked with Di Stasio for five years, is making his own jersey milk mozzarella fiore di latte for the pizzas. Congiu has sourced five growers around the Yarra Valley to grow and preserve San Marzano tomatoes for pizza toppings and is having special durum wheat flour milled in Tamworth.

    waiters and service were amazing, super nice and even joked around with us when we were taking photos and doing karaoke. food was also really good, chef taste menu was perfect portions for us and such a good mix of different asian cuisines. the vibe and setting was beautiful and my friends loved the experience there. would love to come back

    We went for the Feed Me menu after seeing a show at The Princess Theatre. Being vegan our options were limited but every plate was super delicious! The staff were engaging, friendly and helpful. Although we had a small table almost in a corner it didn't feel cramped and we hardly noticed the diners around us. Great value. Great location. Amazing food. Highly recommend

    Why on earth would you pay a similar price (perhaps a tiny tiny less) to eat ordinary when you could have seriously great food. I traveled an extra 10 mins and paid an extra $10 and got a 100000 times better meal and experience. #dontsettleforless

    Another exceptional dining experience. Unlike many other restaurants in Melbourne, Di Stasio continues to deliver an impressive dining experience. The food is produced to the highest standards, the service is attentive without being overbearing. The wine list offers a journey of exploration if you so desire. As for the artwork, it’s distinctive. I’m waiting for the day that Melbourne turns on a gorgeous day and I can enjoy dining in the garden.
