Water Lane is a restaurant based within a working market garden in the High Weald of Kent. Guided by the seasons, our menu reflects its sense of place in the English countryside where we grow our own vegetables and use local suppliers. Our ever changing menu is simple but prepared with imagination and care by our Head Chef Jed Wrobel and his team.The Good Food Guide 2023 describes us as 'A contender for one of the most charming eateries in Kent, it's pretty much impossible to resist the lure of this rural restaurant tucked away in a delightful walled garden...' We are open Friday to Sunday 10am - 4.30pm, serving breakfast 10am to 11.30am and lunch 12pm - 3pm. We serve dinner on Friday and Saturday evenings between 6pm - 8.30pm. Our restaurant is currently located in the Carnation House glasshouse. We welcome well behaved dogs on a leash in our garden.

In addition to the food, we offer a selection of fine wines, quirky cocktails, and have a collection of over 25 craft gins available.World War I poet Siegfried Sassoon lived in Matfield and is the inspiration behind our name. Sassoon was awarded the Military Cross for "conspicuous gallantry" and later won acclaim for his writing. Welcome to The Warren Restaurant, an extension of The Crowborough Estate, holding stock of Sussex Cattle, Boer Goats, Fallow deer, and Wild boar amongst others which the restaurant draws on for its menu. We are located in the wonderful village of Groombridge. Just a stones throw from the iconic Groombridge Place and only a 10 minute drive from Tunbridge wells Our is also available for hire and we have an amazing private space perfect for celebrations. There are plenty of activities on our doorstep with wonderful walks and the picturesque Forest Way trail close. Groombridge also benefits from having Harrisons Rocks for keen climbers and the perfect cycling routes across the Ashdown Forest. If this all sounds too energetic then just relax and chill watching the cricket from our front terrace, perfect for a lazy weekend afternoon.

Nestling in the heart of the beautiful Kentish Weald-the Garden of England, the Star and Eagle Hotel is located in the village of Goudhurst. Standing over 400ft above sea level, there are outstanding views of the surrounding orchards and hop gardens for which the area is renowned. Dating back to the 14th century, the Star and Eagle has played a significant role in the local history, and was once reputed to have been an ancient monastery. Relics of the vaulted stonework of the period are still visible in some parts of the building. During the 18th century the Inn became the headquarters of the "Hawkhurst Gang", who robbed and terrorised the surrounding district, and planned smuggling raids. Today, behind its attractive timbered gables, the Star and Eagle offers all the comfort and facilities of a 20th century hotel with the charm and atmosphere of a bygone era. Open throughout the year, the Star and Eagle is less than three miles off the main A21 road with easy access.

Wow! We went to The Poet for the first time last night to celebrate a significant birthday and it was fantastic. From the moment we entered the building we were made to feel very special. The food was amazing and the staff very friendly and attentive. We enjoyed every bit of the evening. I would highly recommend The Poet to anyone wanting to experience top quality restaurant food and wine.

We arrived for Sunday lunch early and the venue was very quiet. We were seated and served in a good time. The menu had great choices and wasn't too overwhelming. The food was fantastic, you couldn't fault it. One improvement would be ro turn heating on in the toilets - it was freezing in there!! All in all, a fabulous place with great atmosphere, staff and food!

Myself and 3 friends have a very enjoyable evening on Saturday. The reason I chose The Brasserie was that it had both vegetarian and gluten free options which we needed. Unfortunately there were no gluten free buns available for the burger and also no gluten free brownie. We all felt this was very disappointing and my friend who suffers from coeliac disease only had the starter she wanted available to her. It definitely was not gluten free friendly on Saturday night
