Helmand Restaurant offers Afghani dishes with a wood-burning oven where the famous flatbread is cooked on one side of the room and an intimate fireplace is on the other side.Helmand Restaurant entrées include tasty choices like qabelee, which is pallow rice baked with chunks of lamb tenderloin, raisins and glazed carrots or mantwo, a homemade pasta shell filled with beef and onions. If you like spicy dishes, try the koufta challow, consisting of beef meatballs with Afghan seasoning sautéed with sun-dried tomato, hot peppers and green peas in a fresh tomato sauce. The limited time squid ink gnocchi with lobster was amazing. The wait staff truly works as a team, timely picking up dishes and ensuring that your needs are met. They also were super knowledgeable of the menu, so much so I ventured with a gin cocktail (I hate gin) and found that the gin was just like the waiter described (well masked). 10/10

Great experience Banks. This was a W concierge recommended spot for close walking distance and good food, service and ambiance and it didn’t disappoint in the least. Beautiful interior - we sat on first floor near fireplace - service was fast and door was portioned perfectly and delicious. Highly Recommend!

This wonderful gem EXCEEDED our expectations! My husband and I celebrate our anniversary in the north end every year and like to try a new restaurant every time- this place was phenomenal- every single bite was excellent from the starter arugula salad to the veal Marsala which was impeccably seasoned and incredibly tender to the flourless chocolate cake which was oh so fudgy and decadent- the owner/chef came to our table to make sure everything was great (to me this is a staple for a well run restaurant). We were beyond impressed with the wait staff as well- never needed for anything. It will be hard to try a new restaurant next year as this one leaves some really big shoes to fill! Thank you Tresca for a night and a meal to remember!
