However, this award winning pub-restaurant has far more to recommend it than simply an interesting location – a relaxed, warm atmosphere and great food among its positives. The quintessential British pub, The Greyfriar is full of olde worlde character, from wood beamed ceilings to brick fireplaces and horse brass hung bar, not to mention the wonderful South facing garden, a must for traditional English summer drinking and dining. Lovely food, wonderful staff and a warm welcoming atmosphere. I grew up in the area when the star pub was the community centre, with the lovely refurb they did a couple years I can see it being that again with the added bonus of it now a quality bistro/gastro pub!

Had lunch on a Monday from the lunch menu. The decor is gorgeous. Wasn’t busy so there wasn’t much atmosphere. The food was very good, the service was excellent. Looking forward to going back soon. Would recommend.
