The Local Cafe and Restaurant was created to offer experiential learning opportunities for our students. The Local is located on Centennial College, Progress Campus. At The Local, the hospitality, culinary and baking students learn in the restaurant as part of their embedded courses as well as their field placement's under the direction of our Faculty, Chef and Restaurant Technicians. Our menus are inspired by the flavour profiles that represent the incredibly rich diversity of those who call Scarborough home. While sourcing local ingredients from within Ontario, we are proud to provide our students with the opportunity to develop the skills that hospitality employers demand.

We celebrates the ocean’s best catches and the craft of sushi in its award-winning Toronto eatery; dishes created by Executive Chef and Owner Yasu Ouchi from Osaka, Japan. There is only one menu at Yasu; Omakase style (chef's choice set course) at $185 per person, a Japanese tradition wherein Chef Yasu creates a new menu daily based on the freshest and seasonal seafood available from around the world. The Omakase course consists of approximately 20 items including a kaiseki plate, soup,​selection of seasonal nigiri and dessert. . ​​​An 18% service fee will be added to each bill. Liberty Entertainment Group's 2024 project in the iconic Union Station. Blue Bovine combines the traditional steakhouse with the traditional Japanese sushi house to fashion a distinctly modern dining experience. Combining custom elements, such as exclusively designed Canadian maple wood furniture, manufactured in Toronto with bespoke artwork, handcrafted lighting details, and a warm colour palette of deep reds, seawater blues and layers of white to reflect Toronto's four seasons. Honouring the integrity of local and natural elements, the restaurant's ethos is expressed both through the commitment to local menu ingredients on the plate and local and natural material honesty in the design.

    Chef Corona and his team provide an excellent dining experience with quality ingredients and imaginative recipes. My family celebrated a birthday and the food, service and ambience did not disappoint. In fact we all felt it was one is the best meals we’ve enjoyed in Toronto. The Michelin Star is well-earned. We had the a la carte dinner in which you will find ample variety to suit your tastes. From the mains, the wagyu was very good and the lobster, also amazing. If you have a larger party (we had a table for 6), you might get one of two chef’s table situated in front of the open kitchen. It was an extra treat to watch the Chef and team bring the dishes to life! We recommend and will surely revisit.

    Fantastic experience! The students here are very talented and show such professionalism that I'd argue that this is the best restaurant in all of Toronto! The menu was superb and the chefs are very skilled at making everything taste delicious. The servers were very kind, informative and attentive. Well done! Hope to see you sometime soon

    Joined the Guided Tequila Tasting dinner in Feb 2025. The hosts, Doug and Pamela were engaging, knowledgeable and very upbeat! The food was amazing and the chef came out multiple times to let us know what we were being served, and that was a nice touch! Definitely good value for your money. I left happy, knowing more about tequila, with a very full belly and a little buzz! Great night out! Thanks El Catrin! I would love to do this again!
