Itihaas restaurant in Birmingham is one stunning eaterie. This beautiful restaurant —the name means ‘history’ -- is the £2 million brainchild of businessman Raj Rana and it’s been raking in awards since it opened its doors. The décor is contemporary meets traditional with two dining rooms honouring colonial and maharaja eras – there are slate finished walls, original paintings, carved stone elephants, Jali marble window frames like those found in Mogul palaces and elegant black sari-clad hostesses. Chef Amardeep Saka offers intriguing dishes influenced by North India, Mumbai, Chinese fusion and Kenya. We had the tasting menu with a few swaps as we don’t eat red meat. We ate lots of new and exciting foods which were beautifully presented and delicious. The staff were all friendly and very accommodating. Each dish came with a detailed explanation and we didn’t have to wait long for each course to arrive. The atmosphere was warm and inviting. I just wish I’d realised it was a dog friendly restaurant as we could have shared this wonderful experience with our pet.

We had one of the best meals we have had in a long time!! Lovely small restaurant cosy & friendly staff member. Really enjoyed it we have rebooked to go again in a couple of weeks!! Would highly recommend

The food was really nice the presentation and taste was great. The place itself is so nice I am glad we visited around winter time as it felt very cosy and festive. I have to say our table service by Michela was perfect, she is so lovely and well spoken and presents the food well and makes you feel very welcome and comfortable.
