TN1 has established a reputation as a warm and inviting restaurant and bar in the heart of Tunbridge Wells and provides drinks, cocktails and fresh food which is cooked on site by experienced chefs led by Lukas, and run by a welcoming front of house team headed up by Tess and Murat.Our ethos is to serve modern & imaginative dining, which our talented kitchen team delivers 7 days a week. Open Tuesday to Sunday with food served all day from noon.We now have 3 Giant heated Tipis, they provide lots of fresh air and a lovely open environment, they are also heated.Formerly an 18th Century farmhouse boasting exposed beams, oak floors, exposed brickwork and oak tables. This leads to a very relaxed and cosy atmosphere with candle lit tables and real flame stoves.The cuisine is typically modern European, classically cooked using cornerstones such as stock pots to create their sauces with a brigade that has a passion for what they do. Our Christmas dinner at Essence was perfect in every way. The food was absolutely delicious and perfectly served. The staff were very warm and friendly. All the thoughtful little extras were much appreciated. Everything was memorable and special and we may make this a family Christmas tradition!

Overall it was very nice but we didn’t understand why the waiter told us we couldn’t have the champagne that we had selected to have with our afternoon tea and could only have Prosecco. It was an option on the menu however, they were unable to serve it to us. The waiter mumbled something, we thought he said they couldn’t open a whole bottle of champagne for two glasses.
