Il Colosseo is an Italian restaurant that is a local favorite. The dining room here is small and intimate, which adds to the homey atmosphere the eatery provides. At the back of the dining room, Il Colosseo has an open kitchen where guests can watch as the talented kitchen staff prepares the food. The kitchen is dominated by a giant brick oven where the staff cooks up all of its incredible pizzas.Il Colosseo begins its menu with antipasti like fried calamari for two, baked clams, sautéed octopus, sautéed broccoli rabe and a pasta e fagioli soup with white kidney beans and fusilli noodles in a light tomato broth. This is my go to Restaurant anytime I’m visiting the city. Weather with friends or having a solo dinner the food and the service is always excellent! For every visit I generally like to try something new, so this evening I tried the Collard Green and Black Eyed Pea Succotash Salad w/ Shirmp along with my “go to”Grilled Oysters & Espresso Martini.

The customer service was excellent. The cod fish fritter were salty. The oxtails were tough but tasty. The Gríot was great. The shrimp and grits were good but the grits were hard. The Lychee martini and Lemon drops could use less favor qnd a little more alcohol. They charge gratuity for a party of 3 but it was fine.

I brought my neice for her 8th Birthday and it was a super special experience! Really made me feel like I got to show her a tiny piece of Tokyo. Obviously it is a themed restaurant so that is what you are there for. The food is ok but also plated so fun and creative that it made every dish that came out something to look forward to. The server was above and beyond in her hospitality and her costume was amazing! Highly recommend for a special occasion.
