Inspired by Italy’s aperitivo hour, when public squares and streets are filled with lively conversation, Portico serves handmade and authentic Italian fare in Sebastopol in western Sonoma County.A portico is a colonnade or covered walkway in classical architecture. Since the middle ages the elegant porticos of Bologna, Italy have a meeting place for the public as well as a place for business. Paolo Pedrinazzi (who is from Bologna) and Kat Escamilla, owners of the new Portico trattoria , bring this experience to Sebastopol. They even have monthly Regional dinner parties with live jazz.The setting includes an Italian fountain on their cozy patio. Portico offers light table service and counter ordering. Excellent Italian wines are sold in the restaurant at retail pricing; refreshingly unpretentious. Koshō Restaurant at The Barlow is a modern Japanese and sushi restaurant in Sebastopol with a progressive focus on food, local ingredients, and sustainability. We utilize local purveyors for fresh produce and meats as well as national and international providers for fresh seafood and sushi grade fish. Koshō derives its moniker from the condiment of the same name, Yuzu Koshō. Known for its spicy, acidic and balanced nature, it appears throughout the menu in various forms; including Meyer lemon, grapefruit, and satsuma orange koshō. Our chef, Jake Rand, has traveled to many of the famous markets in Japan and has a vast knowledge of selecting top ingredients and the freshest fish and has over 20 years of experience preparing them.

Excellent! We had the seafood stew, Shrimp Louie, tomato soup, and cheesy bread. So yummy! Loved the crushed ice in the drinks too.

It's always too loud in Goldfinch, but the food is worth enduring the din. The service is always attentive especially when Maggie is your server. Overall, Goldfinch continues to maintain high standards. My only wish is that the menu would vary more from season to season.

This was my mother in laws third time eating at Portico on this visit! She absolutely loves it (and so do we!). Last night we had Burrata to start and a beer chèvre salad. They comped us some extra bread and olive oil/balsamic for dipping and we didn’t even ask. (grandma is now a frequent flyer so that may help lol!). Entrees were outstanding as my daughter and I split a Margueritta pizza and vegetarian Lasagna. My wife got the eggplant parmigiana and split that with her mom along with gnocchis which are to die for. My other daughter got vegetable risotto and her boyfriend was with us and he got the cream and saffron with pannicetta (he’s the only meat eater among us). What a great meal and we will definitely be back!

My girlfriend and I went here on a date and had wonderful experience. The atmosphere, food, and service were all top notch. Easily one of the best sushi spots that I've been to. Will definitely be back.
