It is a local gathering place for family, friends and neighbours to catch up over good food and drinks. Enjoy an exceptional five star dining experience consisting of only the finest locally sourced Irish produce for each of our dishes. With a menu filled with choice, our dishes are prepared to suit every palette. Favorites include Chicken Piri Piri, Pan Fried Plaice, Beef and Guinness Pie, Prime Irish Fillet Steak with Daily Specials too. We’re open seven days a week serving breakfast from 8am, lunch from 12 Noon and dinner from 5pm with friendly service and a smile. The Winding Stair Bookshop & Café became a famous Dublin landmark in the 1970s and 1980s. Named after the Yeats poem and in honour of its winding staircase, it is overlooking the river Liffey, with an iconic view of the Ha'penny bridge. As a popular meeting place for writers, musicians and artists, it was a well known hub for debate and creativity with many poems written, novels penned and movies shot within its walls. In 2006, Elaine Murphy brought this much-loved spot back to life as a restaurant, championing seasonal, Irish produce. The bookshop, located on the ground floor, was retained, as were many of the old bookshelves, photos and memories. The room retains its timeless charm with stripped wood tables and floors, and Bentwood café chairs.The view remains as quintessentially Dublin as ever.The food is good, old-fashioned home cooking, with produce sourced from artisans within the island. Drink sare local and international craft beers & wines from stellar producers.

The Woollen Mills has been one of the most iconic buildings and businesses in Dublin for over one hundred years, and to have taken over this site is a serious privilege. Much like our award-winning sister restaurant next door, The Winding Stair, we feel like we are custodians of something very special... a piece of history (James Joyce worked here, how unbelievable is that?!) and we must do it proud! Spanning over four floors and with a glorious roof terrace overlooking the River Liffey. The Woollen Mills is quintessentially Irish, local and of its locale. We want it to be an 'Eating House', a house of food, a place to grab a coffee and bun, a plate of Irish fish and chips, a place to score a casual bite befre the nearby theatres and cinemas or sit with seven courses of Irish antipasti, burrata, crab, lamb or cauliflower steak, overlooking the Ha'penny Bridge with a fine bottle of red or a craft beer.     I went for Sunday lunch with my elderly parents at Gleesons on Sunday. The staff were friendly and attentive. There was a good choice on the menu to suit us all. The food was delicious. And I was delighted that my special request added on the Open Table App to be seated near a window as my mother has very poor eyesight was accommodated. All in all, we had a great experience and will be back.

    The waiting staff were brilliant and recommended a great wine to go with my T-Bone. This was cooked blue for me and it was perfect. I'd would highly recommend this restaurant and intend to be a frequent more often.

    Everything was perfect! The food was delicious, the place was cozy and the service was outstanding! Perfect for a special dinner. We went there to celebrate my boyfriends birthday and the waiters and waitress were so attentive and made sure it was memorable. Luna was super nice and helpful with her recommendations. We can’t wait to come back and try other dishes, they really were absolutely delightful (and so many vegetarian options!). Highly recommend!

    We had a wonderful meal here on a very damp cold Dublin night. Dishes were very tasty. Huge wine selection. No draught beers but lots of choice in bottles. A little pricey but not vastly dissimilar from more commercial restaurants, with a significantly higher quality. Staff were professional and attentive. A lovely evening all round!
