It was the first time that we’d sat downstairs in the bar area and I was a little dubious, but the service, ambience and setting were all just as good as being in the main restaurant. The valentines menu was fantastic, great choices and I having the choice of picking the paired wine was an added bonus; all at amazing value. We’ve visited a number of times and will be returning again soon. Fabulous, if you haven’t been you won’t be disappointed!

One of us is gluten intolerant & sometimes the menu can be a little restricted but I was pleasantly surprised to find there as plenty of choice. The venue is light & airy with plenty of space between tables. The staff were very polite & well trained & the food, which was delicious, was served on time. We’ll definitely be back.

Without a doubt this restaurant in this underated village of Northumberland should NOT be underrated. The Courtyard is a credit to the Community of Pegswood. We were there for the Valentine’s Day special menu in 2025. The friendliness and welcome of the staff matched the theme of love and care of the day. The food was great quality and very well presented. However, before rushing to 5 star across the board, there is a long enduring element that should be addressed. Having been there a number of times now since it was opened, the service has tended to be slow at busy times. They were still amazing, a credit to the establishment. If you’re thinking of visiting the French quarter you won’t be disappointed, this is our favourite restaurant in Newcastle! The staff are very friendly and helpful to make sure you get the best experience, great atmosphere and the food is outstanding! This was our third visit and it’s been superb all three times! I highly recommend the French quarter to anyone, especially anyone looking for the best French restaurant! Already looking forward to our next visit. Thanks again!

My wife and I made our first visit to The Broad Chare for lunch, upstairs in the dining room, to celebrate my birthday, and what an excellent choice we made. We decided to mark the occasion by having the T-bone steak to share - we realised that neither of us had ever had that cut before - and I can't imagine it could be better. The meat was perfectly cooked, the blue cheese salad was delicious, it was a memorable dish. The starters were excellent as well - can't say much about the desserts because all we were capable of by that stage was lemon sorbet each! When we arrived there was only one other table occupied, but it soon filled up and was a really good atmosphere. Staff were all friendly and efficient. A bit pricy, but it was a birthday lunch and definitely worth it!
