Open Kitchen is a contemporary American Bistro and Wine Bar passionate about making, eating, and sharing good food with our community. Our chefs source fresh ingredients to create familiar yet innovative seasonal dishes that are paired with a dynamic wine list. We are an elegantly casual restaurant that welcomes the everyday diner as well as special occasion gatherings. Located in historic Blagden Alley in D.C.'s Shaw neighborhood since 2015, The Dabney continues to pay tribute to the wonderful farmers, watermen, and purveyors of the mid-Atlantic region whom provide some of the best and most unique products in the country. We celebrate these ingredients by preparing them in a large wood burning hearth which is the centerpiece of our open kitchen. The current dining room experience is an 8-course tasting menu honoring the Mid-Atlantic's bounty. We offer an additional 3-course experience at our bar and bar area tables. Walk-in guests are welcome to enjoy the bar area as well.The Dabney has been awarded one Michelin star every year since 2017, James Beard Foundation Best Chef Mid-Atlantic for Chef Jeremiah Langhorne in 2018, and Washingtonian Magazine's #1 restaurant in 2023. At this time we are unable to accommodate severe allium and dairy allergies as well as vegan and vegetarian diets.

Inspired by Chef Johnny Spero’s global travels, yet rooted in his Mid-Atlantic upbringing, Reverie is a Michelin-starred fine-dining experience that focuses on an entirely seafood driven menu. This was a great experience. From the time we walked in until we left the staff were considerably, attentive, and extremely nice. The energy is inviting. The open kitchen was a nice addition to the experience filling the room with warmth. The menu was clearly designed with deep thought and intention. Would highly recommended.

We changed reservations so upon arrival the new reservation did not show up~and it was crowded. The hostess checked with the manager and went ahead and seated us which was great. We had driven a long ways to eat at this restaurant. The food was fantastic. The server was amazing. I highly recommend this restaurant. Great service by Josue Romero.

Returned and it’s even better ! They have refined their seafood tasting menu to a high level. We are talking Michelin Stars level of excellence here. Service is impeccable and the room and vibe are great. Worth a walk over if in Georgetown, a drive if in Dc or close by and a plane ride from anywhere now . It’s exceptional.

Had a wonderful experience. The food was delicious and the service was great. We sat at the counter and were able to watch the chef make everything. Since we went on a Monday, wine was market price, so we enjoyed the salmon special and pork chop with a bottle of wine. Too bad they're closing the restaurant portion, because we would definitely go back. Looking forward to taking some cooking classes there though!
