Key to great gumbo is the roux. You can tell the painstaking attention to detail has been adhered to. Love this place. Live music (on a Saturday night), friendly, impeccable service without hovering (thank you, Tina!), incredible food and drink, and an owner, Joby, who cares about her customers. Thanks for a wonderful evening, Brew River Creole Kitchen. In a town with many wonderful dining options, you'll be part of my regular dining places! We arrived early, not knowing what traffic was gonna be like. We were seated within a few minutes. Our waitress was wonderful. The shrimp toast was amazing. The crab raccoon was one of the best I ever had. Me being a shrimp lover I would’ve liked a little more shrimp in the shrimp and mushrooms, but it was fantastic. I ordered a Whiskey Smash and my wife had a glass of wine and we started with some appetizers. I had the hot & sour soup, which was awesome. Be forewarned, though, it is hotter than most I’ve had. We really enjoyed our main courses, too, but they were made better with the coconut ginger rice.
