We started with a couple of gin gimlets that were quite good. Ambiance was just weirdly cold and uninteresting. There were oil lamps on the tables but none of them were lit. The light was too bright and again just cold and in no way intimate feeling. For appetizers, the brussel sprouts were more than charred but had good flavor. Just a little over cooked. The irecracker shrimp seemed to be like a Sysco type frozen product with a pre-made dip. Shrimp was okay but you could probably buy something similar at Hy-Vee and make it at home for half the price. My pork schnitzel was NOT pounded thin but rather a butterflied chop or loin batter fried. It was served with an overcooked mushy and tasteless risotto and French green beans that were perfectly cooked, but again completely unseasoned. Both the risotto and the beans were completely covered by the schnitzel so the presentation looked like a great big giant schnitzel on a plate. It was basically two full portions of slightly tough schnitzel. I would have preferred something smaller that had been tenderized in the pounding process. Or they could have served two pieces of schnitzel to the side of the rice and green beans to create an aesthetically pleasing plate. My wife got a salad with spicy shrimp and as far as I could tell, the shrimp were a pre-cooked frozen product that was just tossed in some spices before it was added to the salad. Just really disappointing. My wife had a glass of Pinot Grigio and I had a glass of Chardonnay. They were both very nice. Our server was pleasant, attentive, and on the ball. We skipped dessert. Sorry, just wasn’t a good dining experience.
