My boyfriend and I booked La Tasca, Windsor for New Year's Eve before we went out. When we arrived we were shooed to the back of the restaurant to a bar table, bit disappointing as there were plenty of free tables in the main restaurants and it was freeeezing where we were sat with no portable heaters. Took about 10 mins for someone to greet us and take our drinks order. Our starter order (off the set menu) was taken at this point too. Starters came out promptly but were pitiful - one slice of cheese and ham and 2 tiny slices of bread each. Our mains came out when our empty starter dishes were still on our table - these were just moved to the empty table next to us and never cleared away. I have to say that the main meals that we were served were delicious!! Really made up for the starters. However, once our mains were served, this is where our night ended, as far as the staff were concerned. We finished our mains about 9pm. No one came to clear our plates, ask for any more drinks or take our pudding order. It took until 10pm, when my boyfriend waved over the waiter, to take our pudding order. The waiter hung his head as he walked over (quite rightly) as he realised he had completely forgotten about us. 10:25pm and still no puddings! He had obviously not sent our order to the kitchen. Absolutely rubbish describes the service at this restaurant. I could understand if they were jam-packed but they weren't - I counted about 12 occupied tables. I ended up only paying for one set meal and our drinks - still too much if you ask me. I'm not one to complain especially in restaurants as I used to work at a restaurant and know how tough it is but these guys don't have an excuse as I saw them constantly messing around behind the bar and chatting (which is fine if all your customers are happy but we certainly weren't!) I won't be visiting this restaurant again and I won't be recommending it. Shame as the food was lovely.
