Had a really lovely, romantic dinner here for Valentines Day

We had family come to town and we thought Hayden Block would be a great place to take them as they love barbecue. The ambiance in the back with the fireplace is fantastic. It was great that my 16 year old nephew was able to enjoy the spot as they allow minors until 8:00 pm. The service was fantastic and the food delicious. The brisket was very tender. All of the sides were excellent. If you are a whiskey drinker they have an incredible selection which is half off during happy hour 3:00 - 6:00 pm Monday - Friday.

Came for omakase, food quality was amazing with a large selection of items that are not available at your average sushi shop. Informative and intimate experience with the chef. One thing to keep in mind is that due to Alberta health regulations, majority of the dishes are prepared in the kitchen and then finished in front of guests by the chef. It is expensive and way more than I would normally spend at a sushi restaurant but in my opinion well worth it for the experience, quality and ambiance. Pacing of the meal was very good and overall lasted about 1:30-1:45.

Have been before and will return again. Probably our favorite Italian restaurant in Calgary (and we’ve been to all the nice ones - Teatro, Mercato, etc.). Superb food in a beautiful cozy atmosphere. Very old school - waiters with authentic Italian accents, classic art and pictures of Italy on the walls, quiet but not awkwardly so. Not inexpensive per se, but exceptional value for a five-star Italian experience.
