Thai Terre is located opposite the village green in the picturesque South Downs village of East Dean, close to Birling Gap and three miles west of Eastbourne. At first a Thai restaurant may seem out of keeping with the flint-walled cottages and the well-kept traditional English village common, but this pairing reflects the driving principle of Thai Terre – to take the best the South Downs can provide and add an exotic twist to create something really special.

The Royal is operated by James Hickson, who has a solid hospitality background having learned his trade at well-loved restaurants and gastropubs including St John, Great Queen Street, The Canton Arms and Moro. The seasonal menu blends influences from across the globe, with particular reference to Italian recipes, such as hand-rolled pastas.The meat at BAYTE is free-range and reared on biodynamic, organic Haye Farm in Devon. Callenders is a modern , casual style dining bistro. From a romantic meal for two, to a celebration dinner for forty. The best of local produce cooked to order for you. The surroundings are relaxed and easy going. Large potted plants occupy the free spaces and original water-colours by local artists hang on the walls. Table tops are bare and minimalist set with condiments, cutlery and fresh cut flower stems. Old dishes make a fresh return, and modern classics like Thai-Style Chicken sit comfortably along-side Braised Beef Cheeks with roast potatoes and gravy.Steaks are good too and a full Char-grill section on the menu features locally shot Venison and a selection of beef cuts; T bone, Fillet and Sirloin. As you would expect all desserts and pastries are made in house, with a definite focus on classic British desserts, steamed Treacle Sponge, Crème Brule, Apple Tart, Queen of Puddings and a really beautiful creamed rice dessert served with a mango sorbet are often on the menu.

The First In Last Out (FILO), is a family run free-house in the Old Town of Hastings. Alongside our award winning beer, we serve quality food prepared from scratch. We offer lunch and dinner everyday, including our ever popular Tapas night (Monday), Indian Thali (Thursday) and Sunday roasts.The brewery is located just two minutes away from the pub, where we produce five regular ales using a full mash-tun process. We started Fatto a Mano in Brighton in 2015, serving authentic and affordable Neapolitan pizza, made with fresh ingredients, in a friendly environment. For us, everything starts with our dough. Soft and pillowy, our pizza dough is made fresh every day, using only the best Italian 00 flour, salt, water and yeast. We let our dough prove for at least 24 hours – the slow proving means we’re able to use minimal quantities of yeast, so our pizzas are light and easily digestible. We use carefully selected Italian and local British ingredients from a handful of small, independent suppliers to top our pizzas. Finally, our pizzaioli cook the pizzas in our oven at about 450 degrees, for no more than 90 seconds, in true Neapolitan style.

    Food is fantastic at Thai Marina, we come regularly for this reason, but whilst the service is very polite, just always get the feeling that they’re just not interested and are keen for you to get on with it and leave!

    We have eaten in the pub on many occasions and the food and service have always been great. However mother's day was a disappointment. We realised that they were really busy but the service was very slow. The food when it came was swimming in gravy which made the potatoes and Yorkshire soggy. The parsnips were so hard that they were imossible to cut or even bite. My grandson ordered a brownie for pudding. It wasn't the chocolate sponge with a gooey centre but solid. The cost was deducted from the bill. Thank you. We will visit you again to try once more.

    Always a good time had at Bill’s. A friendly team and pleasant environement. The food is always to a good standard and great coffee. If I was being picky and was looking for areas of improvement - the children’s size breakfast had no bacon which is a tad stingy. Also we sat under the double glazed atrium and the glass was covered in guano. This doesn’t make for pleasant viewing when eating. I do appreciate this is probably a challenge to keep clean given the location.
