When we started Big Top Brewing Company, there were no craft breweries in the Sarasota area and we set out to fix that. We wanted to compliment Sarasota’s historical associations with The Ringling Circus, performing arts, great architecture, the best art and design schools and world renown tourism. The best way we could do that was to craft beer that our home town can be proud of. We plan to continue the tradition of the arts and help Sarasota add beer town to its identity. Café Gabbiano located on Siesta Key was originated by the Migliaccio family in 2003 where is four sons grew in and out of the restaurant business.A second venture in downtown Sarasota was opened and designed by Pietro in 2012 named Casantica, a small old house converted to a quaint homey restaurant. Dolce Italia was established in 2010 by Tiziana Di Costanzo who came from Ischia, an island in the Gulf of Naples. Using a combination of classic Italian dishes, family recipes passed down for generations, and warm hospitality, Dolce Italia has built a reputation in Sarasota as a destination for anyone seeking great food and ambiance. In 2015 Matthew joined as manager of the front of house and is now a managing partner of Dolce Italia. The kitchen staff trained by Tiziana from the beginning are still with the restaurant with Maria being the capocuoco.Some of the specialities Dolce Italia has become famous for are the Napoletan Eggplant- a tender sautee eggplant with fresh tomatoes crowned with ricotte, the Trenne Dolce Italia- the signature pasta dish with creamy tomato sauce, fresh tomatoes, mozzarella, and mushroom.

    My parents came from out of town and wanted to take my kids and me out and we alll loved our food. We have been many times but the menu changed a bit so we got to try some new food and it was fantastic. Highly recommend. Food is always good and service is always good as well.     First time at this location. We are wine club members and had the opportunity to be waited on by two very good employees in training, one at the wine counter and the other at our table. Both were very knowledgeable and very helpful. We will definitely return to this location again soon for fantastic wine and food!

    Food was wonderful. Value for the prices is not out of control but definitely on the pricey side. Good wine list. It was my birthday dinner so no small dessert…only if you want to buy one. That was surprisingly stingy on their part.

    What most distinguished our experience was our waitress Alyssa, who outperformed. I’ve been a server in the best restaurants in Santa Fe and Boston and can say that she was excellent, thoughtful, and knowing. It was also nice that Kaitlen checked on us and made sure we were happy. Food was terrific and the wine deal for lunch is unbeatable. Also, Alyssa was perfectly charming.
