Not too many places can do as many things well as this particular eatery. If guests just need some premium meat to bring home to cook, the butcher shop has its own entrance at the side of the building where guests can peruse all kinds of cuts of beef, lamb, pork and various kinds of house made sausages and pate. Naturally, Laurelhurst Market's menu focuses on the many fine cuts of meat that are cut on-site as well as farm fresh produce. Appetizers include the Charcuterie Board that features house made cured meats and pates with seasonal mostarda and house pickles. The most popular entrées include the Ribeye and the Olympia Provisions Pork Chop!

Oma's Hideaway is a vibrant, maximalist restaurant inspired by the life and spirit of Chef Thomas Pisha Duffly's grandmother, Kiong Tien “Tina” Vandenberg. Her ability to adapt, to make the most out of limited resources, and to stay creative while projecting warmth and brightness is the guiding force behind Oma’s Hideaway.Born during the pandemic as a pop-up in the Gado Gado parking lot, Oma’s became a permanent beacon of iridescent light in Portland’s Richmond neighborhood in 2021. We had the hanger steak, stake frits, and a hamburger. All were delicious and cooked according to our request. We love the food, atmosphere and location of LM and will return soon.

Every dish was a surprising delight. We ordered the rice table. I wasn’t sure what to expect, and found a feast of delicious and very different foods. The chicken satay redefined that dish for me. The clams with some kind of chewy pork infused croutons was fantastic. The corn fritters were to die for, as was the apple cider donut for dessert. We left both completely stuffed and sure to come back. Our server was lovely and knowledgeable.

The food, the people, the drinks, you can’t go wrong. Your dining experience can be adventurous or safe with lots of well known options and maybe something you’ve never tried before, but it’s all made with love and care. You feel welcome as soon as you walk in the door and are taken care of right up until you leave. One of my favorite restaurants in Portland.
